COURSE DESCRIPTION

ENVS 219 — Freshwater Ecology  (5 cr)

Students develop a conceptual model of biotic and abiotic factors and processes in stream, lake, riparian and wetland ecosystems. Stream classification, riparian condition assessment and wetland delineation methods commonly used in the Pacific Northwest, including identification and understanding of the role of riparian and aquatic plants, algae, vertebrates and macroinvertebrates, will be emphasized.
